The town of Bad Urach (population approx. 13,000) is a spa town and health resort with approximately 400,000 overnight stays and around 600,000 day visitors annually, making it one of the leading tourist destinations in the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO. The town has secondary schools, a wide range of recreational facilities, and a diverse cultural program. Our major local festival, the Schäferlauf, is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.

The scope of responsibilities includes, in particular:

Management of the Tourism and Culture Department, including the Haus des Gastes and the Entdeckerwelt Bad Urach, with a total of approximately 20 employees
Strategic development and implementation of our municipality’s comprehensive tourism concept as a climatic health resort and spa in the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve
Development of new tourism offerings and experiential programs
Representation of the city in numerous tourism organizations and associations
Collaboration with lodging providers, restaurants, clubs, cultural and recreational facilities, and regional partners
Coordination and support of working groups and networks
Strategic marketing and tourism-related use of the infrastructure and attractions created as part of the Garden Show
Changes to the scope of duties are possible.

We expect:

A bachelor’s degree in tourism, destination management, business administration, cultural management, public administration, or another relevant field
Relevant professional experience, preferably in the tourism sector
Leadership experience is a plus
Organizational skills and assertiveness
Strong consulting and communication skills
A goal-oriented, independent, and agile work style
Creativity and innovative solutions
Cooperative collaboration with political bodies
