The Department of Economics at the Harz University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible :
Deputy Professorship (m/f/d) for Tourism Management and Business Administration,
especially Marketing and Market Research
(limited until 31.08.2027, part-time with 50% of the weekly working hours of a full-time position)

Applicants must have a relevant academic degree in an economics, economic geography or economic psychology subject and a doctorate in the same subject areas.
The position requires proven sound scientific knowledge and relevant professional experience with tourism service providers, destination management organizations or other companies or associations specializing in tourism.
Teaching will be provided in particular for the tourism degree courses in the Department of Economics and should be from an application-oriented perspective. It primarily comprises basic courses in marketing, in particular tourism marketing, market research and empirical social research at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
At least two of the following three tourism-related specializations are also required:
- Digital Marketing,
- Experience Management and Customer Experiences,
- Consumer psychology and behavior.
In addition, applicants must be able to teach basic business management and tourism courses and should have a further focus in their teaching. Topic-specific courses such as regional tourism and marketing, active, nature and/or cultural tourism are desirable.
Our understanding is that lecturers cooperate across departments, work constructively with all areas of the university and promote our university goals. We are an internationally oriented university. Teachers must therefore be able and willing to offer part of their courses in English.
The general recruitment requirements for the deputy professorship are based on Section 35 of the Higher Education Act (HSG LSA). Employment is on a fixed-term contract. You will receive a salary equivalent to the remuneration that a civil servant professor in salary group W2 of the Saxony-Anhalt Salary Act would receive. This is made up of the basic salary and, if applicable, the family allowance in accordance with the salary regulations.
