(Junior) Port Operations Manager

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Coordinating port calls, including:

  • Obtaining nautical clearances and official permits, as well as legal review of schedules, including evaluation of destinations
  • A key focus: reserving berths, including checking availability in advance
  • Obtaining and communicating port- and berth-related information and documents
  • Preparation and verification of relevant information for travel documents and other media, including research and communication of entry requirements

Operational support for port calls, including:

  • Handling security registrations for day visitors
  • Planning, managing, and documenting all port operations in accordance with local conditions and regulations, including official clearances and cargo loading
  • Analysis of port agency evaluations, as well as the preparation and communication of supplier assessments
  • Active participation in the further development and cost reduction of port operations

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Completed vocational training or a degree in maritime shipping or maritime tourism
  • Professional experience in maritime shipping (e.g., customs clearance), in maritime tourism (e.g., day-trip operations), or alternatively, comparable work aboard a cruise ship
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong numerical skills and cost awareness
  • Highly independent, meticulous, structured, deadline- and goal-oriented work style
  • Excellent organizational skills, as well as a high level of commitment, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Fluent written and spoken German and English
  • Proficiency with MS Office; SAP, DaVinci, and MXP are desirable
  • Willingness to travel
