Professorship for Destination Development and Tourism Policy

We are looking for you:
scientific, practical, future-oriented
You are a committed person (m/f/d) with academic expertise and professional experience in various (international) destinations and offer practice-oriented courses in our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in the field of tourism and hospitality management.
You have extensive knowledge in:
- Destination development (national/international)
- Tourism policy with a focus on destinations
- Market analyses and studies in the destination context
Further experience in
- Destination management and destination governance
- Planning and coordination of (international) destinations
- Drafting (tourism) policy statements
- Moderation of different political perspectives of (tourism) policy makers
- Political education
- Social trends and developments such as health, inclusion, accessibility, etc.
They know how destinations, destination management organizations, destination management and destination development work from the local to the international level and are familiar with the (tourism) policy framework.
You are enthusiastic about teaching, research and transfer, set individual priorities within these areas and contribute your diverse skills. You are a personality who

- have an open mindset
- are innovative in your approach
- communicates empathetically and openly
- is internationally networked
In the case of a habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, the supervision of doctorates is possible within the framework of the inter-university doctoral center CARRI.
The following applies to the professorship
- You may teach courses from related fields, including in other faculties
- You are willing and able to offer courses in English as well
- You are constantly developing your teaching skills and are motivated to use new teaching methods, innovative teaching technologies and online teaching
- You are actively involved in the further development of the subject area, in the internationalization of the faculty and in the self-administration of the university
- You will also be involved in applied research projects and in the area of knowledge and technology transfer
For the professorship you need
- a university degree (preferably in geography, political science, sociology, tourism or economics)
- pedagogical aptitude, which you can prove, among other things, through the trial courses
- special aptitude for academic work, which is demonstrated by a relevant doctorate or by an expert opinion on achievements appropriate to a doctorate
- Special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, which must have been acquired after completion of the university degree and of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector. In special cases, proof of professional practice outside the higher education sector can be provided by the fact that a significant part of the professional activity was carried out over a period of at least five years in cooperation between the university and non-university professional practice
