The Hamburg State Opera is one of the leading opera houses in Europe. Each season, the repertoire includes six opera and two ballet premieres on the main stage and numerous revivals from the extensive repertoire, which includes works from almost 350 years of music history. Showing modern music theater, combining old works with new perspectives and cultivating the classics of the repertoire are important programmatic priorities alongside a striking passion for the new.
Tasks:
- You will work in a team of four within the Card Sales department with the following main tasks:
- You will support and advise domestic and international business and major customers such as tour operators, hotels, companies, etc. You will be responsible for order processing from quotation to invoicing and fulfillment.
- The special clientele also includes agencies that market subscriptions to the State Opera including travel to and from the venue by bus in the surrounding area.
- You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and active expansion of the customer base in the B2B sector.
- You will be responsible for the sale and internal organization of special group offers (e.g. premium arrangements, combination packages).
- You will advise schools, kindergartens, etc. on group bookings for events in the State Opera's general schedule as well as specialized offers in the education sector and handle reservations, sales, invoicing and fulfillment for corresponding requests.
- You will support the Hamburg visitor organizations (Volksbühne, Theatergemeinde) from the offer to the provision of seats and invoicing.
- You will process orders from special customer groups (e.g. sponsoring associations) and manage special sales channels (e.g. corporate partnerships).
- At trade fairs or other sales-oriented events, you will represent the State Opera to its customers.
- In addition to the specific tasks, your work also includes the general sale of tickets and subscriptions at the box office and evening box office as well as in the State Opera's telephone ticket sales department.
Requirements:
- You have experience in B2B sales for cultural and event companies or in the tourism sector and are familiar with their industry-specific working methods.
- We require a sound knowledge of written and spoken English. Other foreign language skills are welcome.
- We require in-depth knowledge and confident handling of a standard ticket sales program (preferably JET Ticket/Eventim in-house) as well as Microsoft Office products (WORD, EXCEL) and demonstrable experience as a call center agent.
- You can identify to a high degree with the products of a music theater company and have appropriate knowledge of opera, ballet and classical concert literature.
- You have communication skills in customer contact, textual confidence and sales talent.
- You see yourself as a service provider for our customers, are a team player, flexible and able to work under pressure and are characterized by an independent, careful and effective way of working.
- You must be prepared to work irregular hours (public holidays and weekends). It is possible to work at locations outside the opera house (e.g. at external venues).
