The Harz University of Applied Sciences aims to increase the proportion of women in the academic field. Women are therefore expressly encouraged to apply.
If the requirements under civil service law are met, the position can be filled in a fixed-term civil service relationship for a period of three years or in a fixed-term employment relationship under private law. In principle, the position can be made permanent. In the event of a positive evaluation of professional, pedagogical and personal suitability, a civil servant relationship for life or a permanent employment relationship can be established after three years at the earliest.
As an applicant you should
- have a relevant university degree in economics, economic geography or business psychology and a doctorate in the same subject areas, as well as
- proven sound scientific knowledge and relevant professional experience of at least three years with tourism service providers, destination management organizations or other companies or associations specializing in tourism.
The other recruitment requirements are set out in Section 35 of the Higher Education Act (HSG-LSA).
Teaching is provided in particular for the tourism degree courses in the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and is to be carried out from an application-oriented perspective. It primarily comprises basic and in-depth courses in tourism management at Bachelor's and Master's level.
For the advertised position, it is also necessary to teach basic business administration courses. In addition, you should be able to teach other aspects of tourism. Courses such as regional tourism development, innovation management, digitalization or smart governance in tourism are of particular interest.
In addition to destination management and development, one of the following two tourism-related specializations is desired:
- Event and conference management
- Business travel market
We are a university with an international orientation and require that you are able to teach the courses related to the subject area in both German and English.
Active participation is also required:
- in the further development of Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in the Department of Economics,
- in the acquisition and realization of research and third-party funded projects,
- initiating and maintaining the department's international contacts and
- in academic self-administration.
In principle, anyone who fulfills the general recruitment requirements in accordance with Section 35 of the Higher Education Act (HSG LSA) can be hired as a professor; a fact sheet can be requested from the university. The level of remuneration or salary is based on W2 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Remuneration Act (LBesG LSA). The remuneration consists of a W2 basic salary and performance-related components.
